Vinyasa, a style of yoga, is a flowing sequence of asanas that ties movement withbreath. Invoke’s dynamic vinyasa focuses on the flow, strength and power of the practice. You will experience the cardio, heat-building side of the practice as well as the mind balancing, focus-on-the-moment benefits. At Invoke we offer the following vinyasa classes:

Basics- Designed for the new yogi or for the experienced student who is interested in a deeper understanding of the poses. You will go through the basic poses and be introduced to vinyasa breathing techniques and class structure.

Intermediate/Advanced - All levels are welcome although it is recommended that you have some previous yoga experience. Students flow through the rigorous class working towards more challenging postures. Teachers will offer variations of each pose to cater to yourindividual level.

Open - All levels are welcome. The instructor will present different options for the less experienced student and for the advanced yogi.

Community Yoga - What a bargain at only $5 per class! Taught by Gary Riggen, graduate of the 2005-2006 OM Yoga teacher training program. This open level class is perfect for all levels of yogis including complete beginners.

Ashtanga Yoga - Ashtanga Yoga is a challenging and energizing sequence of Yoga asanas (postures) linked together through breath, in a meditative flowing series. "Vinyasa" means breath-synchronized movement. It is breath that intimately interconnects the sequence of asanas. The specific sequence has an important scientific relationship of pose and counter-pose that is intended to ultimately be memorized. The sequence is learned gradually, until all poses are finally integrated into a complete moving meditation series. With practice, one's own "internal teacher" emerges more fully, and the external teacher assists that process.

Prenatal - click here for information on our prenatal yoga classes.

Hot Yoga - Invoke hot yoga is a unique yoga series which combines the precision of therapeutic yoga and the foundations of traditional yoga in a room that is heated and humidified to keep the body warm and sweating throughout the class. The series is a cardiovascular workout that strengthens, tones and loosens the muscles, while calming the mind and reducing stress.

The 'hot' in hot yoga allows for deep, safe stretching and promotes detoxification of the skin, blood and muscles through sweat.
**This is an intermediate/Advanced level class. Please, you must consider yourself "fairly fit" with normal blood pressure and be near your healthy weight to attend the Hot Yoga classes. Call us if in doubt.

Gentle/Restorative Yoga - This class is designed to open the body by easing into the poses more slowly and holding them a bit longer with the help of props. It will also help prepare the body for the restorative poses. Restorative yoga poses are often referred to as "active relaxation." By supporting the body with props, we alternately stimulate and relax the body to move toward balance.

Some poses have an overall benefit. Others target an individual part, such as the lungs or heart. All create specific physiological responses, which are beneficial to health and can reduce the effects of stress-related disease. In general, restorative poses are for those times when you feel weak, fatigued, or stressed from your daily activities. They are especially beneficial for the times before, during, and after major life events: death of a loved one, change of job or residence, marriage, divorce, major holidays, and vacations. In addition, you can practice the poses when ill, or recovering from illness or injury.
